Challenge
Harley Davidson has been in business for over 120 years and is best known for their iconic American-made motorcycles. In recent years, a heavy reliance on expensive touring models, in addition to an aging customer base, have led to Harley Davidson suffering a decline in unit sales. In 2021, Harley Davidson launched the Icon Collection and attempted to remind consumers of the company’s heritage and influence on the motorcycle culture in the United States. The collection is a limited edition series of restyled models that are meant to evoke the style of the motorcycles the company produced throughout the 20th century, while maintaining contemporary technology. While there has been a lot of interest surrounding these exclusive collector models, the price point and quantity produced have excluded many potential customers from purchasing a new motorcycle from the Icon Collection.
Family Heritage
I am the fourth generation in my family to share a love of motorcycles; This is why when I was presented with the opportunity to choose the area of study for my capstone, it was an immediate decision. My time studying this field and lifestyle has deepened my knowledge and understanding of something I’ve been immersed in throughout my life.
